The 2015 Future Music Festival Asia scheduled for March 13th and 14th, has been canceled. The festival was canceled because the organizers were not granted a public entertainment license. “Despite having put in place a robust event, security, safety and medical management plan, which has been developed alongside both local and international experts with a combined fifty years of experience in running similar large-scale events, our Public Entertainment License has not been granted,” a statement reads on the Future Music Festival website. The statement continued, “The plans that have been developed far exceeds international standards.”

The artists who were scheduled to perform this year at the festival included Avicii, The Prodigy, Fatboy Slim, Afrojack, Knife Party, Public Enemy, and more. Full ticket refunds will be made available, although organizers state it may take 30-45 days in order to process the refund request. Consumers are encouraged to visit the Future Music Festival website to receive the refund information.

The Future Music Festival in Australia went on as scheduled, and the festival’s first day was yesterday. The artist lineup included Avicii, Drake, The Prodigy, 2 Chainz, Afrojack, Knife Party, Kiesza, Martin Garrix, Robin Schulz, and more. The music festival was a success, despite the fact that 52 people were arrested for illicit drug use. More than 35,000 people attended the event, and they were all given a warning that the Victoria police officers would not allow illicit drug use or excessive alcohol consumption. The police officers, along with police dogs, were able to seize cocaine, ecstasy, amphetamine, and cannabis.

In the recent months, there has been a large number of deaths related to ecstasy in Australia. A day before the festival, police officers were able to seize 7500 ecstasy pills that were bound for the Future Music Festival in Australia. Seventeen people were charged with trying to deliver the ecstasy to the event, and the 7500 pills were worth an estimated street value of $500,000 dollars. Detectives hope they were able to save a life by preventing the delivery of the pills. At the State of Trance festival in Homebush last month, a 19 year old died due to drug abuse at the festival. The drug task force explained that The Future Music Festival in Asia was canceled because of concerns relating to drug and alcohol concerns.
