Frank Ocean just revealed he is releasing a new album and a magazine, which are both scheduled to drop in July (Billboard magazine confirms). While the magazine will be titled Boys Don’t Cry, Ocean has not announced the title of his upcoming album yet. “I got two versions. I got twoooo versions. #ISSUE1 #ALBUM3 #JULY2015 #BOYSDONTCRY,” the R&B crooner wrote on his website. The caption was accompanied by a photo of Ocean holding one of the magazine issues in his hands, the other magazine issue was stacked on the floor.

Frank Ocean began his music career as a ghostwriter, and he penned songs for John Legend, Justin Bieber, Brandy, and others. His first project, nostalgia, ULTRA, was dropped four years ago. The R&B singer stated he was inspired to record the project after Hurricane Katrina, which destroyed his native city of New Orleans.

“Novacane” was the first single from nostalgia, ULTRA, and it peaked at Number 6 on the Heatseekers Songs chart and Number 17 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. “Novacane” also respectively impacted the Billboard Hot 100 at Number 82. The other single from the album entitled “Swim Good” reached Number 70 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, and it also peaked on the music charts in Belgium at Number 39.

Ocean‘s channel ORANGE was released in 2012, and it featured production from Pharrell Williams. The debut studio album sold over 130,000 copies in its first week, and it entered on the Billboard 200 chart at Number 2. The Gold-certified album featured the singles “Thinkin Bout You,” “Pyramids,” “Sweet Life,” “Lost,” and “Super Rich Kids.” The lead single “Thinkin Bout You” was a huge hit on the charts, and it charted in the US, UK, South Korea, New Zealand, Japan, and Denmark. The song also sold over one million copies, and it earned a Grammy Award nomination for Record of the Year.

The follow-up single, “Pyramids,” peaked at Number 22 on Hot R&B Songs and Number 21 in the UK R&B chart. In 2012, Ocean made a guest appearance on Jay Z and Kanye West’s “No Church in the Wild,” which was featured on their Watch the Throne album. He also made an appearance on Beyoncé’s self-titled album in 2013 on a song entitled “Superpower.”

FDRMX Eyes: Christian Dupree is a singer-songwriter based in Los Angeles. He has recently released a live sessions video for his song, “It Ain’t Easy.”
