Ellen Pompeo is best known for her role as Meredith Grey in Grey’s Anatomy. She has been working in the film and TV industry for almost 20 years, but not a lot is known about her private life. Here are 15 little known facts about the actress. Stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: Michael Bloomberg Witnessed Her Wedding

Pompeo invited New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg to her wedding ceremony, which took place in 2007. In fact, he was one of the witnesses.

Number Fourteen: Jake Gyllenhaal Hit on Her

That was long before Gyllenhaal blew up as a celebrity. In fact, he was very, very young at the time, which made Pompeo quite uncomfortable. They both ended up working together in 2002 in Moonlight Mile.

Number Thirteen: She Didn’t Enjoy Filming Intimate Scenes with DiCaprio

Ellen Pompeo and Leonardo DiCaprio shared some scenes in Spielberg’s Catch Me if You Can. On the first day of shooting together, the actors had to simulate a sex scene. The actress didn’t feel very comfortable doing this when she had just met DiCpario: “I can’t say it was difficult, but … it was a little awkward, sex with Leonardo DiCaprio on my first day.”

Number Twelve: She Only Wears Make-Up at Work

On her private life, she never puts on any make-up at all. And even when she’s acting, it still feels weird to her to be wearing it, claiming that putting on a lot of make-up when she was younger made her skin break out.

Number Eleven: She Wants to Quit Acting

Pompeo started acting by chance, and she doesn’t want to continue doing so once she’s done with Grey’s Anatomy. She would like to “challenge” herself and to move on to something else to find out if she can be good at a different career.

Number Ten: She Wasn’t a Great Bartender

Ellen used to be a bartender at the SoHo Bar & Grill before she was an actress. She says she wasn’t a great drink mixer, but she was a “very good hustler”, yelling at customers and totally ignoring them if they weren’t tipping enough.

Number Nine: She’s a Great Decorator

The actress loves buying houses and decorating them afterwards. She carried out part of her vintage LA home’s renovations herself. The whole process was photographed and documented by AD magazine.

Number Eight: Ellen Pompeo Didn’t Audition for ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Pompeo actually auditioned for a different show, called “Secret Service.” The show wasn’t picked up by any TV networks, but she got asked to play Meredith in Grey’s Anatomy instead. Stay tuned for part two, coming soon!
