Anyone attending this year’s Electric Zoo Festival will be required to watch an antidrug PSA before admittance. Understandable, considering that a death at last year’s festival caused the cancellation of the final day.

The PSA, which can be seen here, depicts a concertgoer have a very bad time after of taking a few questionable pills. His high ends up isolating him from the concert and ending with him in ambiguous darkness. Short and to the point, the festival organizers are hopping this will be enough to dissuade attendees from taking illicit drugs.

“Our message to concertgoers is simple: The Electric Zoo experience is exceptional and worth being present for,” Made Event founders Laura De Palma and Mike Bindra said in their joint statement. “Molly can cause you to not only miss the moment, alienate your friends and have an overall adverse and unpleasant experience … but can also make you sick and can even be fatal. Fans will experience how great it is to ‘Come To Life’ at one of our concerts from lights, sounds and crowds.”

It is interesting that the video stops short of depicting the concertgoer’s possible hospitalization. Instead, the ending insists that the worst possible outcome is missing the concert (it’s not). Nevertheless, The video is responsible first step to stop a problem that has become a huge problem recently. Just a few weeks ago 36 concert attendees were hospitalized after attending Avicii concert in Boston’s TD Garden, creating a Phase 2 Mass Casualty event.

We’ll have to wait until a few weeks to see if this tactic will have the desired effect of curbing hospitalizations. The Festival kicks off august 29th and goes until the 31st. David Guetta, Nicky Romero, Armin Van Buren, Zedd, Alesso and Kaskade are just a few of the big names performing at the event. FDRMX will be sure to keep an eye out for any extra precautions MADE will employ to keep its attendees safe and the concert on track.
