DJ Kaskade has just signed a two-album deal with Warner Brothers Records. Kaskade says signing the major deal is all about reaching a bigger audience and getting his music heard. Kaskade also just signed an exclusive residency with Wynn Las Vegas. The three-year deal includes thirty shows at Encore Beach Club and XS Nightclub. In April, the DJ will play Coachella for the fourth time. Kaskade recently spoke to Billboard magazine about his new album deal with Warner Brothers, “I’m super anxious to get material out there. I don’t have an album completed, but I spent most of 2014 in the studio so there will be new music in 2015 for sure.” He continued, “It’s premature to say when, exactly, but this is the primary reason the deal happened. To get new music out.”

Kaskade released his album Atmosphere in 2013. It was his eighth studio album, and peaked at Number 16 on the Billboard 200 charts. Atmosphere went to the top of the Billboard Dance/Electronic Albums chart as well. The single “Atmosphere” was nominated for Best Dance Recording at the 2014 Grammy Awards. To date, Kaskade has been nominated for three Grammy Awards. His 2013 Fire & Ice studio album was nominated for Best Dance/Electronica Album, and this year he’s nominated for Best Remixed Recording/Non Classical for the “Smile (Kaskade Edit)” song.

Despite his Grammy nominations, eight albums, and numerous singles, Kaskade has never had a radio hit. The DJ spoke about the discrepancy during his Billboard magazine interview, “I’ve felt myself that I’ve had numerous songs with radio potential, but none of them ultimately made it there- and that’s fine. Not having a radio hit has almost been a part of my DNA.” Kaskade says his fans can expect a more mature sound for his next project. He states, “Dance music doesn’t have to be bubblegum for people to enjoy it. So much of dance music has been that up until now, and it’s a shame.” DJ Kaskade feels that the people want to hear music with a deeper meaning, and music with substance. He understands EDM is steadily growing, and DJ Kaskade doesn’t want one sound to define the genre.
