Dr. John announced on today that “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child”, the first single off his upcoming albumSke-Dat-De-Dat…The Spirit of Satch”, is available for streaming and free downloading! His post on Facebook teased fans with a pic of Rebennack looking, well, pretty dang good in some purple pants enthroned on an orange-and-black chair, and his post read, “Anybody want a sneak preview of the upcoming album? Check out the new website which includes a streaming track and free MP3 download too. Link is below, ENJOY!” FDRMX began enjoying the track first thing this morning!

The sneak-peek track is a mournful “Sometimes I Feel Like A Motherless Child,” featuring the rhythm-and-blues vocal talents of Anthony Hamilton. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and six-time Grammy-winner will release the Louis Armstrong tribute album on August 19th. Anthony Hamilton is not the only guest star singing on the album either – this little gem is loaded with world class musicians. Bonnie Raitt, New Orleans native Ledisi and the McCrary Sisters in “Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen.” Dr. John sings a duet of “Sweet Hunk O’ Trash” with blues artist Shemekia Copeland, and the Blind Boys of Alabama appear in “Wrap Your Troubles in Dreams” and “What a Wonderful World.” But that’s not all! Rebennack recruited more than six horn players to recreate the unmistakable sound of Armstrong’s trumpet.

You can stream the single “Sometimes I Feel Like a Motherless Child” on Dr. John’s website here, as well as get the free download code.
