Diplo is one of the hottest producers in the music business right now, and as the first half of this list already demonstrated, it’s not due to chance. He has an incredible work ethic and a diverse set of influences. But if you’re still in doubt that the man is equal parts talent and hard work, check the rest of this list.

Number Nine: He’s A Bit of a TV Nerd. Okay, so this doesn’t speak to his work ethic. But he does love the shows Breaking Bad and Game of Thrones.

Number Eight: He’s a Romantic. He admitted that for Valentine’s Day one year, he once flew a girl out to Las Vegas. To eat very expensive sushi.

Number Seven: He Has Been in Anger Management. He was once in a fight at a bar which landed him in a jail for a night. This was the wake-up call he needed to take anger management classes.

Number Six: He Likes to Imitate Jesus on the Cross While DJing for a Crowd. Maybe he’s not for the easily-offended?

Number Five: He Created a Separate Record Label to Give Away Free Tunes. He created The Jeffress – a sub-division of the Mad Decent label. It exists solely to put out music for free.

Number Four: He Was in a Super Bowl Commercial. It was for Blackberry, and he didn’t make a dime off of it. He just got a free phone.

Number Three: His First Record Wasn’t Released on Mad Decent. He is known for his association with that record label, but his first album – Florida – was released on the label Dig Dada.

Number Two: He Bypassed the Whole Instrument Thing. Unless you count turntables as an instrument. Diplo never learned to play traditional instruments, but instead went straight into DJing and music production.

Number One: He Took His Name from a Dinosaur. It’s because he loves them. So much so that he even has a dinosaur tattoo on his forearm. His name comes from the Diplodocus, a large, peaceful, vegetarian dinosaur that roamed North America millions and millions of years ago. We hope you enjoyed our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Diplo!
