Back in October, Alice Glass announced that she was departing from Ethan Kath and the electro-punk duo known as Crystal Castles. In her Facebook post, she wrote, “My art and my self-expression in any form has always been an attempt towards sincerity, honesty, and empathy for others. For a multitude of reasons both professional and personal I no longer feel that this is possible with CC.” Although we have yet to hear anything new from Glass, Ethan Kath, who has been quiet ever since the split, has recently posted a new song and has made it very clear that Crystal Castles will continue on without her.

Today, Ethan Kath posted the song, “Frail,” on Crystal Castles’ Soundcloud, the first track in almost three years. The song is incredibly similar to their past work and even features a female vocalist that sounds almost identical to Alice Glass. The singer has since been comfirmed as a woman who goes by Edith. It is still unclear if Kath will continue Crystal Castles as a solo project or if he will be replacing Glass.

In addition to posting the track on Soundcloud, Kath also took to Facebook to post his first sentiments following their split. In it he wrote, “I wish my former vocalist the best of luck in her future endeavors. I think it can be empowering for her to be in charge of her own project. It should be rewarding for her considering she didn’t appear on Crystal Castles’ best known songs. (She’s not on “Untrust Us,” “Not In Love,” “Vanished,” “Crimewave,” “Vietnam,” “Magic Spells,” “Knights,” “Air War,” “Leni,” “Lovers Who Uncover,” “Violent Youth,” “Reckless,” “Year of Silence,” “Intimate,” “1991,” “Good Time,” “Violent Dreams” etc.). People often gave her credit for my lyrics and that was fine, I didn’t care.”

After posting his regards on Facebook and Soundcloud, he (or his management team) has quickly edited his words to only include the first two sentences due to a slew of angry and dividing comments. Although it is unclear if “Frail” will appear on a fourth Crystal Castles studio album, it is very certain that Crystal Castles is far from over.
