Connor Cassidy’s music video for “Getaway” begins with a solo guitar jam shot in black and white. There is an overlay of different clips of city streets, fireworks and the T. The guitar playing suddenly stops, and the title of the track begins the video. Various clips of California and Boston are shown throughout the video, especially Fenway Park, home of the Red Sox. The young and independent hip-hop artist says the story behind this video and track is a personal one. He had the “best week of my life,” driving the state coastline, reuniting with an old friend, and passing out on the beach.
It’s every up-and-coming artist’s anthem. Getting away for a while makes you realize what you have in life. The need for an escape, whether it be a day or a week, is vital to oneself because then one will realize the true importance of life. The hip-hop beat of the track is strong and steady, and Cassidy’s verses are truly inspiring. The ending is a must-see as it gives the viewers a lesson that they’ve already heard before, yet important to hear again and be reminded of. The sky is the limit with Cassidy, and he urges you to “Getaway” once in a while.
