Chick-fil-A is a fast food chain based in the United States known for its signature chicken sandwich. It was founded in 1946 and now has a total of 1,850 restaurants. However, there are some things about the chain that many people don’t know. Here, we present our list of 15 things you didn’t know about Chick-fil-A. Number Fifteen: Chick-fil-A’s Roots Are In Atlanta

The chain originally began as the Dwarf House Restaurant which was owned by Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy. 13 Chick-fil-A Dwarf House restaurants are still open in the Atlanta area.

Number Fourteen: The Company Has Southern Baptist Values

Chik-fil-A’s founder, S. Truett Cathy, was a practicing Southern Baptist which greatly influenced the company. Chick-fil-A is not open on Sunday’s and the chain’s statement of corporate purpose is to “Glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A.”

Number Thirteen: They Invented the Chicken Sandwich

In 1961, Cathy found a pressure-fryer that cooked chicken in the same amount of time it took to make a hamburger. He then registered the name Chick-fil-A which is why the company’s slogan is “We Didn’t Invent the Chicken, Just the Chicken Sandwich.”

Number Twelve: Chick-fil-A Sauce Is Not Made of Magic Ingredients

The company’s signature sauce may taste heavenly, but the ingredients are no mystery. It’s actually just ranch, honey mustard, and barbeque sauce.

Number Eleven: They Use More Lemons Than Anyone Else

Not only are Chick-fil-A’s chicken sandwich and nuggets top sellers but so is the chain’s homemade lemonade. They squeeze over 200 million lemons per year, making them the single largest purchaser of Sunkist lemons in the world.

Number Ten: You Can Get Free Sandwiches For a Year When a New Restaurant Opens

If you get to a Chick-fil-A on its opening day early enough, you may get free sandwiches for a year. The first 100 customers through the door receive a voucher for the sandwich is equal to 52 meals.

Number Nine: You Could Only Find Chick-Fil-A In Malls for 19 Years

Chick-fil-As were only located in mall food courts at first. The first standalone Chick-fil-A was opened 19 years after the first Chick-fil-A opened. Stay tuned for part two of this list, coming soon!
