Candice Swanepoel was born and raised in South Africa. She was spotted at 15 by a model scout in a flea market and was shortly after flown to Europe. Within just a year, she had already modeled for the world’s most relevant brands and designers. In 2007, she signed for Victoria’s Secret and moved to New York, her ultimate goal. Now, at the height of her career, it’s a good time go through some little-known facts about Candice. Stay tuned for part two, coming soon!

Number Fifteen: Candice Swanepoel Doesn’t Diet

Unlike pretty much everyone else in the industry, Candice doesn’t follow any dietary regimen and doesn’t cut anything out of her diet. Her secret to staying in shape is just a mix of generous genes and strict, daily work-out routines.

Number Fourteen: She Almost Quit Modeling

Right before she signed her contract as a Victoria’s Secret angel, Candice was overwhelmed by terrible loneliness. Her despair was so bad she genuinely considered going back home in South Africa, but she just couldn’t pass on Victoria’s Secret’s offer.

Number Thirteen: Candice Swanepoel’s Favorite Color Is Very Specific

Swanepoel’s has a very specific taste when it comes to colors. Her favorite shade is a dusty rose often featured in Stella McCartney’s clothing line.

Number Twelve: Swanepoel’s Hobbies

Supermodels do have hobbies, too. Candice’s are skateboarding, boxing, scrapbooking and ballet. In fact, her dream as a kid was to become a professional ballet dancer, for which she used to train.

Number Eleven: She Doesn’t Drive

The model doesn’t have a driver’s license. Living in New York, she doesn’t really need a car, and she always relies on bikes and taxis to get around the city.

Number Ten: She Misses the Farm Life

Swanepoel grew up on a dairy and cattle farm in Mooi River, South Africa, away from the city. The model used to play around freely, surrounded by all kinds of animals. She described it as a perfect childhood. “What I had on the farm I could never find anywhere else, ever again.”

Number Nine: She’s Not Really Blonde

Her signature blonde hair fits her so well it’s hard to believe she wasn’t really born with it. Swanepoel is actually a brunette but has been dyeing her hair since she started modeling professionally.

Number Eight: She Has Pierced Nipples

Swanepoel has pierced nipples, which she has shown in several photo shoots. Most of the time, she is required to take them off for runways and pictures. We will be back shortly with seven more facts about the beautiful model!
