Billboard revealed it is launching the Hot 100 Music Festival, becoming the company’s first event of its kind. The festival will take place on August 22nd and 23rd at Jones Beach in New York. “With this first-of-its-kind festival on the beach just outside of New York City, Billboard is officially expanding its live event footprint. The iconic Jones Beach will be fully transformed into a true festival experience with multiple stages and a festival village,” John Amato, Billboard president, stated. The Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival will be produced in partnership with Live Nation. The artist lineup, which will include over 30 of today’s biggest artists, will be announced on July 9th.
New York City is home to countless major music festivals. Some of the city’s biggest festivals include the Jazz Festival, Governors Ball, and the Electric Zoo Festival. Electric Zoo will take place on Randall’s Island Park from September 4th through the 6th. The past two years of Electric Zoo have been cut short, due to unforeseen situations. In 2013, the death of two attendees forced the Electric Zoo promoters to shutdown the final day of the festival. Last year, the attendees had to be evacuated from Randall’s Island Park because of severe weather. This year, the promoters are hopeful Electric Zoo will be able to complete its scheduled three-day fest. The headliners for Electric Zoo2015 include Above & Beyond, Alesso, and The Chemical Brothers. Some of the other artists expected to perform are Adventure Club, Adam Beyer, Robin Schulz, Pete Tong, Zeds Dead, Nervo, DVBBS, Gramatik, Excision, Com Truise, Hot Since 82, and more. The full lineup can be viewed on theElectric Zoo Festival website.
Besides the Electric Zoo Festival, The Chemical Brothers will perform at the Sonar Festival (June 18-20th), Wired Festival (July 2nd), Ultra Europe (July 10th), HARD Summer (August 1st), Summer Sonic Tokyo (August 15th), Summer Sonic Osaka (August 15th), Lowlands Festival (August 21st), North Coast Music Festival (September 4th), and Bestival (September 10th). The duo recently performed at Glastonbury festival. The Chemical Brothers’ album Born in the Echoes will be released on July 17th. The project will feature the singles “Sometimes I Feel So Deserted,” “Go,” and “Under Neon Lights.”
