Scottish indie pop outfit Belle and Sebastian have now released the tracklisting and cover art for their forthcoming album, Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance. The press release describes the LP as “perhaps the most inspired and wide-reaching album Belle and Sebastian have ever made.”
The new album was produced and mixed by Ben H. Allen III, who has worked with artists like Animal Collective, Gnarls Barkley, and Tony Doogan. Belle and Sebastian recorded Girls in Peacetime Want to Dance in Atlanta, Georgia. It will be available for purchase on Januray 20thas a double LP and a four-LP deluxe vinyl box set. The deluxe set will include a poster, along with several bonus tracks and extended mixes. The tracklisting includes “Nobody’s Empire,” “Allie,” “The Party Line,” The Power of Three,” “The Cat with the Cream,” “Enter Sylvia Plath,” “The Everlasting Muse,” “Perfect Couples,” “Ever Had a Little Faith?,” “Play for Today,” “The Book of You,” “Today (This Army’s for Peace).”
In addition to the update, Belle and Sebastian have also announced they will be extending their tour, with an impressive span of bonus concerts that stretch all the way into next summer. Focusing on their European fans this month, they will perform in England at Manchester Cathedral on the 28th, as well as De La War Pavillion in Bexhill-On-Sea on the 29th. They will finish out October at the Pitchfork Music Festival Paris on the 31st.
Come January 26th, they will take on the Laneway Festival in Auckland, New Zealand. A sweep of Australia will begin at Brisbane’s Tivoli on the 28th and Sydney’s Enmore Theatre on the 29th. They will start off February at Melbourne’s Palais Theatre on the 1st. The down-under portion of their tour will wrap on the 3rd at the Astor Theatre in Perth.
The group will then pack their bags for Seoul, Korea and play the AX Club on February 12th. Up next is Taiwan’s Hostess Club Taipei at Legacy on the 16th. Tokyo fans can catch them at Studio Coast (Hostess Club Weekender) on the 21st.
Belle and Sebastian will return to their hometown on May 22nd at Glasgow’s Hydro Arena, in a special performance with the Scottish Festival Orchestra. Next summer will find them in New York City’s Radio City Music Hall on June 10th. The tour will finish off on July 2nd in Keflavik, Icelend’s ATP.
