Toto bassist Mike Porcaro (59 years old) died on Sunday, after a long battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Porcaro’s brother and Toto keyboardist, Steve Porcaro, made the sad announcement on social media. “Our brother Mike passed away peacefully in his sleep at 12:04 AM last night [March 15] at home surrounded by his family. Rest in peace, my brother,” Steve Porcaro wrote. Toto guitarist-singer, Steve Lukather, sent his condolences to the Porcaro family on social media. “My brother Mike Porcaro is now at peace. I will miss him more than I could ever put into words. My deepest love to family. God Bless,” Lukather wrote. Mike Porcaro was a member of Toto since 1971, but he left the band in 2007, due to his illness. Porcaro was forced to stopped performing with the band, after growing numbness in his fingers made it impossible for him to play the guitar.
